Our story
Everyone Can Help That’s how our journey began. We were just students with little more than our allowances, but we had a simple idea and a deep desire to improve our society. At the time, public education in Ghana was free up to Senior High School. That gave us a window. If we supported a child from Class One, we had nine years before fees became a barrier. By saving just GHC 20 per month at a 10% interest rate, we could raise enough over those nine years to fund that child’s high school and even tertiary education.
We called it Rising Sun. It was our first lesson in the power of organising and long-term thinking. From there, the idea grew. If individuals can change lives this way, what if communities organised the same way? What if they created local systems that could ensure access to education, healthcare, and economic opportunity, permanently lifting people out of poverty? That vision became the We Are Liberating Societies Foundation.

We work with communities to uncover the real barriers they face. By listening first and learning from local voices, we design solutions that truly fit their needs.
Long-Term Thinking
The only way to effectively eliminate extreme poverty is to create institutions that guarantee access to education, healthcare, and economic opportunities. That takes time, hence our 20-year development plans

We work with other organisations, government, and individuals who have the right skills and experience for certain challenges. This ensures the best use of resources and greater impact.
